Our popular culture promotes violence and ignorance, it glorifies our most primeval emotions, anger, fear, disobedience and rebellion against common order. We are encouraged to nurture and release the most inhumane parts of our mind
upon the world. Wherever we look we find images, symbols and idols that either stimulate our most base emotions, or distract us from the rotten core of our society. If you are not a person who is easily pushed into anger, then your mind is clear, it is open. But you will not find anything in the social world which stimulates thought. When you go outside you are bombarded by simple images with simple messages:This is X, love it or hate it.
of course by ''love it'' they mean: consume, buy, showoff or talk about it.
However a person who is at first aware of these injustices and moral corruptions, will be enraged over what is happening to his fellow citizens. And that rage, will blind him, and he will not be able to tell what is to be denounced and what is to be revered.
We cannot love that which is morally decadent and loose our values and sense of self. But we also cannot hate that which is morally decadent, since that hate by it's self would be a calamity to the mind. People choose to passionately idolize, and their opposition chooses to frequently hate. Free will has become a hostage between ignorance and hate.
''The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.''
- William Butler Yeats "The Second Coming"
